About this item

It dries very quickly and may be recoated when it feels dry to the touch. This varnish may be used over or under acrylics and oils. Several thin coats are better than one thick coat. When dry, varnish may be wet or dry sanded. Soap and water clean up, non-toxic and low-odor. For Exterior or Interior use. 8 oz. Gloss Finish.

Works well if thinned...
I've used this product for at least 10 years. It has gone through various reformulations. Several years ago, I contacted corporate to complain about the formulation change. I was told that they were using a new manufacturer and they were also having trouble sourcing the same ingredients that worked so well. The formula has changed several times and some of them work and others, not so well. I happened to buy a case of the lousy product back in 2007. I still have it and when I got the more recent too thick version, I decided to use the 2007 stuff to thin it out. It worked! So, IF you can find another water-based, exterior varnish to thin the thick stuff, you should be golden. Do not use water to thin it! It will make a milky finish! I just bought some from Michael's last night and 3 out of 4 bottles was very liquid. SO, perhaps they've adjusted the formula yet again?? I haven't used it yet, so I don't know. It's still the best product that I've found...unfortunately! Best of success to all of you~! I Recommend This ProductAbout Me: General Crafter,Sewer or Quilter,OtherSkill Level: Expert

This is just what I needed to finish the nail Cross necklaces that I make for a large corporation. I wasn't able to find it at my local craft store, and they were able to ship it to me right away so I could get the project finished. And it doesn't leave any discoloration to the product. And it dries fairly quickly. Its perfect. I Recommend This ProductAbout Me: General CrafterSkill Level: Intermediate

OMG!! What happened to my varnish????
I am a professional crafter who has used Delta Ceramcoat for the last couple years with the utmost satisfaction. Just purchased a bottle and OMG!!!!! Not the same product at all! I even took it back to the store because I thought I got an "old" bottle but the manager assured me the bottle hadn't been on the shelf more that a couple weeks. And from reading other reviews, I'm not the only one who saw an overwhelming difference. If there was any possibility there were some bottles hanging out somewhere with the old formula, I'd buy every one!!!I Don't Recommend This ProductAbout Me: General CrafterSkill Level: Expert

Disappointed in new formula
For years I've used this product on handpainted wooden items that I sell but the last bottles I bought were a disaster in the making. The varnish was so thick it was like painting with Vaseline. I couldn't smooth it out fast enough with my brush so big globs of varnish were visible when dried, plus dozens of bubbles. I had spent hours painting these items and I had to trash them. Until I'm sure Plaid Enterprises goes back to the original formula, I'll have to find another varnish. Never again can I afford to ruin something because of the thick and unspreadable varnish.I Don't Recommend This ProductSkill Level: Intermediate

Terrible !
This is so thick I can't use it !! I paint wooden eggs and have to dip them in varnish several times after I paint them. I've been using Delta exterior or interior gloss for years but now the varnish is so thick that the excess won't drip off like it's supposed to. It dries in lumps on the eggs! I am heartsick. Will someone from the company or someone who knows the product inform me if the varnish can be thinned with water. I'm desperate for an answer!I Don't Recommend This ProductAbout Me: General CrafterSkill Level: Intermediate
